Preschool Graduation

Lauren,
It is hard for me to put into words my feelings for you on this momentous day in your life. Consumed with the hustle of our life, I wasn't prepared for the emotions I would experience this evening. You are no longer a little girl anymore. Not only have you physically grown so much in the last few months, but when I look and listen to you I often see a future teenager in front of me. Proud is a word that doesn't seem to give my emotion justice. I love how you are kind to everyone in your room. I love how you are already aware of the unfortunate cattiness of the female world and how you are confident enough that you don't seem to mind or care to partake in this behavior. I love your fearlessness for being in front of a crowd. I love your beautiful smile! Even though this scares your father..I love how honest you are with your love for all of your boyfriends.  I love your enthusiasm for knowledge. I am not fearful as a mother for you to enter Kindergarten because I know you are more than ready to go. You will have so much fun and I am more than excited for you to start this next stage in your life. I love the bond you share with your sister, especially while at school. You know that Meredith loves to run into her big sister and I love that you are not irritated by her persistance and you remain kind to your little sister's needs. Your sister was so proud of you tonight that as soon as she saw you on the stage she yelled...Hi Lo!

My life also flashed forward thirteen years to your high school graduation...I am so excited to watch this wonderful girl I know blossom into the woman that you are meant to me.  I already wish I could shelter you from the hurt, heartache, tears and struggles that you will encounter these next thirteen years. Growing up is tough, but I also know that all of these experiences will be wonderful learning examples that will give you courage to conquer the real world.

Lauren, I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of you and can't wait for all the fun you will have in the years to come!  I am proud to be your mother!  I love you!

Papa and I were glad to share in Lauren's graduation. She appears to be mature in her class and respectful of others. She did what she had to do without being a show-off. We are proud of you, Lauren!
