We celebrated Meredith's 4th Birthday last week. She LOVES Monsters University/Monsters Inc. and especially Mike Wasowski!!!

Then on Saturday, Meredith had a couple of her friends over to eat, play and go swimming. With Bella, Lauren and Makenna.

and climbing all over Clay.



 

1st Day of School!

Lauren's first day of Second Grade!!!! Even though Lauren thought the summer was a little too short, she was super excited to go back to school today!!! Monday night was her open house and she hugged all of her friends with great excitement when she saw them again! It is  much easier emotionally as she has gotten older. She loves school and is excited because she has a few friends in her class this year! We are a little more opinionated on our attire as we mature though. She is all about peace signs...as you can tell.

Her favorites...blue and peace signs. She also wanted a bigger back pack this year. She just "needed more room".

 She couldn't wait to wear her new shoes either. They scream Lauren...turquoise..her favorite! She prefers tennis shoes for school because she can run faster!

 Arriving to school. I'm glad she smiles at me and isn't annoyed that I am one of the hundreds of paparazzi parents at school!

When she came home she said she had fun, asked Miss Ryan all about her dog and her favorite part included playing with her friends from last years class at recess! Little Miss Social this year!

Gymnastic Meet

 Lauren had her Gymnastics Meet last Saturday. She worked really hard on her routine this summer and it paid off! Very proud of you Lauren!

Iowa State Fair

 We visited the Iowa State Fair last Friday. It was a beautiful day in Iowa! We just hit the favorites this year due to a toddler who chose not to listen 25% of the time, a frustrated father (due to the toddler) and an exhausted mother (who probably should have rested at home). The other 75% of the time was great though. We just often forget how good it is when someone doesn't listen 100% of the time! Lauren loved the Lego Iowa display up above. The fair is never complete without a stop at the Iowa State booth to get tattoos and football posters! We love you Cy!!!

 We started at the Little Hands on the Farm. Always a hit!

 Then the favorite...The Knapp Animal Learning Center. Watching chicks hatch out of their eggs...



 We also saw newly born piglets, a 3 hour old baby calf, ducks, baby ostrich (that tried to peck Meredith in the face. It was a good thing that there was glass between them), turkeys and 2 hour old baby lambs.

 The girls LOVE the animal barns. We watched a little bit of a horse show and then Lauren was in heaven walking through the horse barns and petting as many as she could. Her favorite horses are the paint horses.

 Who needs the Midway when you can play on all the John Deere Tractors. Best entertainment ever!!! 

My mom always asks "What did you eat at the fair?" Lauren always has a walking taco and a snow cone. Meredith wanted chocolate ice cream (I didn't know she liked chocolate ice cream), Clay always eats at the Cattleman's Beef Quarters and I always get a peanut butter Fair Square.

 

Forced Family Fun!!!!

We celebrated another year of Forced Family Fun!!! I didn't do a very good job of taking pictures this year. I seemed to take more video than anything. We went to Kings Pointe in Storm Lake and we LOVE this waterpark. Great for all ages, including fun for the adults too! The girls swam their little hearts out and were exhausted! We all had a blast and enjoyed the family time with all of the Govig Family. Meredith had NO fear and loved that she could go down the water slides. Here she is coming out of one with Clay.

Meredith went down this slide probably 400 times! This was her preferred sliding position! She often also did a little dance move to the music prior to sliding...lots of arm rolling.

 



 

Lauren enjoyed the water slides and her independence! The water was cold on this one!!!
