Forced Family Fun

The second half of our trip included the wonderful Forced Family Fun portion! We celebrated Dad & Mom's 40th anniversary (2 years in planning) with EVERYONE at their cabin for the 1st time. It was wonderful! Everyone enjoyed their time together. We are one crazy bunch!

It almost didn't happen....Dad was out at the cabin first and called saying their was a forest fire. IT. WAS. CLOSE. This is the closest it has ever been to the cabin. This pic is standing on their front porch. It was maintained by the time we arrived (3 days later). I'm glad everyone was safe and no one was hurt.

Here is our family at the cabin.
Lots of time spent on the 4-wheelers. Sometimes they weren't even running. I can't believe how many hours they were entertained on these.
Lauren loves to drive.
Meredith learned how to drive all by herself.
The cousins played together so well.

Levi's 1st time to the cabin. He enjoyed Papa and Nana time.
One of Clay's favorite part was working! Pulling trees up. This is a never-ending job.
There was lots of hiking.
See the cabin?
Lauren climbed her 1st mountain! She was a trooper! See the cabin on her right in the distance? And see the fire on the left (black area)?
Enjoying the view with Uncle Ryan. So proud of you Lauren!

We loved the rodeo!!!

All the Govig cousins with Papa and Nana. Eli (5), Papa, Micah (almost 7), Nana, Kale (almost 3), Kyler (6), Lauren (8), Levi (10 months) and Meredith (almost 5).
The Govig Gang
I loved seeing Levi added to our log end. Dad has carved initials in each end of the trusses in the cabin. On one end are our initials "C, M". On the other end for our kids. Lauren, Meredith and Levi. Each family has one. Thanks Dad!

Summer Vacation

In July we took our summer vacation. I'm a little behind on blogging, so this will mainly be filled with pictures to tell the story. We started the trip in Estes Park, CO. On the way out we stopped at a park in Greeley, CO for lunch, feed Levi and burn some energy in a nearby park.
In the beautiful state of Colorado. In Rocky Mountain National Park.
On a hike to Alberta Falls. Levi loved the back pack carrier. It was a life saver.
We finally made it to the falls.
It was cold up here. Only 50 degrees!
We took this long twisted road to the top.
A walk around Bear Lake.

 Meredith looking at some elk.
A walk around lake. This one was very secluded, peaceful and quiet.

 A stop for lunch.
 Lots of elk.

 Tram in Estes Park.
Both girls fed the squirrels for hours!

10 months old

10 months old! You are so sweet and the best little cuddle bug. You will still fall asleep in my arms, which is my favorite part about you. I love when you lie your head on my shoulder. When awake, you don't sit still for very long. The picture above was a bit of a struggle. You are growing so much and you really are starting to look more like a toddler and less of a baby.  You celebrated your 1st Father's Day with Dad and enjoyed your 1st trip to Iowa State University on that day. We went to Hickory Park (where you slept through the entire meal) and then strolled through campus. You wave bye-bye and occasionally say "ba..ba". You appropriately shake your head NO. Usually with a smile on your face. You know when you are doing something wrong. You also say "ma-ma", "da-da", "pu-pu" (for putt-putt..your toy tractors). You celebrated your 1st 4th of July and went to your 1st parade. You didn't care too much about the parade. You love books and Lauren loves to read to you. Reading will always calm you down, even if you were screaming right up until the moment we start reading.
You have BIG belly laughs. You laugh very easily and smile very easily. You simply like for someone to pay attention to you. You are walking along everything (especially the coffee table and the bath tub) but you won't take a step on your own just yet. You often hang on with one hand. You walked for the 1st time behind a push toy. You have the most beautiful BLUE eyes!
Your Dad must like my clothing choices for you because he seems to always match whatever you are wearing. What a pair of handsome men!
This is my daily view of you. As soon as I sit on the floor you come attack me and crawl up on my lap.
you get up in my face and
 grab me!
You love to hang out and watch out the window and doors. You could stand there for hours watching all the action. That explains the constant hand marks on the windows. Marks of love!
You still prefer your food in the form of breast milk or baby food, but you are very slowly progressing to real food. It has been a bit of a struggle, but you are now eating a few foods and feeding them to yourself. Cheerios are your favorite. We still have alot of work to go in this area. You drink water from a sippy cup easily. You still don't consistently sleep through the night. You don't sleep well away from home. It's hard when you can see us in the same room with you. You stare at me and cry "ma-ma-ma-ma". Not fun! You typically go to bed between 7:30-8:30, get up usually around 1am and then again around 4 or 5am for the day. Sometimes you get up more, sometimes less. I am patiently waiting for this to end. It is exhausting (Remember, there are 2 other very active girls that live here too that don't go to bed until 9 and are up running at 6am). You excitedly crawl through your tunnel and will sit in play in there for quite a while.
You had your 1st trip across the state of Nebraska, to Colorado and then to Wyoming to your 1st Forced Family Fun Weekend! You did really well and tolerated the drive well. You also tolerated all of our hiking and activities with a good attitude. You preferred the back pack carrier over the stroller. You fell asleep on our hikes. Below: in Colorado.
You entertained yourself by tormenting me by putting your fingers in my ears, pulling my hat off, pulling my hair and then laughing!!!
You loved the cabin and enjoyed sitting on the 4wheelers, lying in the hammock, going on walks, watching your cousins, trying to get to the stairs faster than us, getting into things you shouldn't, watching all of the action from the loft and enjoying time and lots of love from your family.
You are a busy busy boy. You do things that your sisters never did. You like to open EVERY SINGLE door and cabinet. Then you like to empty everything that is in them. You like to play with the toilet. Disgusting!!! Why?! We didn't have to baby proof many things with the girls and EVERYTHING with you! You love to clap at your accomplishments. You are very proud and feel that we should be proud of you too.
You have 6 teeth now and you like to bite our shoulders and me. You think this is hilarious and smile and laugh after you do it! It has.to.stop!
We Love You Levi!

4th of July

We had a wonderful 4th of July celebrating with friends! We love small town parades! The girls got way too much candy and enjoyed activities and games in the park. Waiting for the parade.
We ran into Clay's high school/college friend and enjoyed time with him and his family. Ailey and Daphna Walhert, Lauren and Meredith. These girls had a blast together!
Levi thought the parade was just ok. He preferred to have someone hold him while standing. No sitting allowed! The Muller boys.

The Muller girls.
That evening we enjoyed good smoked food and fun with our neighbors. Bella (5), Lauren (8) and Meredith (almost 5)
The traditional Statue of Liberty pose.
Sparkler fun.
Dancing the night away. We enjoyed the wonderful firework show too!
